Tarkala

One of Tarkala’s major renovation and construction projects is the Sinebrycoff brewery area in Helsinki. As the brewery moved to modern premises, the real-estate near the city centre became an ideal location to build residential dwellings and business premises in.

In the first stage of this project, the brewery’s old malt stockroom, built in 1880, was refurbished and converted into Rettig’s head office in 1990. Subsequently, a part of the former brewery area was demolished while another part was renovated to meet today’s requirements for office premises. This renovation artfully combined the old with the new.

The block was converted into prime residential apartments, offices and business premises, complete with underground parking facilities.

Construction of the housing commenced in 1999. The first project, Aaria, was completed in 2000 and the subsequent projects, Duetto and Serenadi, in 2002. The final phase, Sonaatti, was completed in 2003.

All in all, four residential and business buildings were built in the Sinebrychoff block comprising 340 apartments and 21,500m² retail and office premises and a car park for some 500 vehicles.
