Rettig ICC has decided to discontinue production of heat emitters in Jakobstad in Finland
- Due to declining demand for steel panel radiators in Europe, overcapacity and high production costs in Jakobstad, Rettig ICC has today decided that the company will end production of heat emitters in Jakobstad in Finland.
- The consultation negotations concerned up to 110 employees. 86 of Rettig Värme Oy Ab’s about 130 employees will be affected by redundancies, 20 of which will be entitled to retirement arrangements. Some employees have already found new jobs.
- 38 employees will continue employment with Rettig Värme Oy Ab working primarily with marketing, sales and customer service.
- A “New Job” programme has been agreed upon to help employees to find new employment opportunities.
Rettig ICC will concentrate current production of 33 mm radiators in Jakobstad to Rettig ICC’s plant in Rybnik in Poland where production costs are lower and the company has unused capacity. Production of the Milo electric radiators will be moved to the plant in Biache in France where the majority of the customers for this product are located. Production of convectors will be moved to the plant in Hull in the UK to take advantage of spare capacity there. Production of heat emitters in Jakobstad will cease within about six months.
A “New Job” programme will be implemented to help employees affected by the closure to find new employment opportunites. The first “New Job” day will be held for employees on Wednesday 25 June to provide further information about the programme, to hear expert presentations about job seeking and to meet companies recruiting new employees.
