Rettig Capital supports education in water chemistry through donation to Åbo Akademi University

Rettig Capital Ltd., the parent company of Rettig Group Ltd, is making a donation of EUR 100,000 to Finnish Åbo Akademi University to support research and development in water chemistry.

“Water pollution, lack of clean drinking water and need for effective water cleaning technologies have in recent years raised concerns and have become of great academic interest within the field of water chemistry. Through this donation we want to support research in water chemistry and water technology at Åbo Akademi University ", said Cyril von Rettig, CEO of Rettig Capital Ltd.

“Åbo Akademi is very grateful for this donation, which is a very welcome support of our education in water chemistry and technology. As the importance of water technology has increased considerably we are pleased to be able to strengthen our education in chemical engineering, which is also closely linked to our new strategic research area “The Sea””, said Mikko Hupa, rector of Åbo Akademi University.

Åbo Akademi University is currently running a fundraising campaign to secure high-quality research and teaching for the future. The Finnish state is prepared to match each euro of private donations to the universities in Finland, up to 150 million euro in total. The state’s matched funding is allocated to the universities in proportion to the private capital that each university has raised between 1 November 2014 and 30 June 2017.
